Three trains, four countries later ...
Hello all,
I write from the land of beautiful people and asymmetrical haircuts. That´s right: Sweden. Stockholm is beautiful in Autumn. Utterly gorgeous. And I´m staying on a boat! (well, I was last night, but had to move rooms tonight and am on land again now). So I could imagine I was a pirate for a bit, or at least some sort of seafaring folk (a Viking maybe?) Now, where has my cabin boy got to...?
Before that I was in Prague, which I guess is what I really should be telling you about. Prague, also, is beautiful, and like Stockholm, I really want to return. Best of all perhaps, is that I made a friend, a travelling buddy (hello Jo, if you´re reading!) so it was great to hang out with someone and chat - especially someone I had so much in common with (from a love of cats & Don DeLillo, to Middlesex, to Lynch & Lars von Trier...) So for a couple of days we wandered Prague and went to museums. We eventually found the modern section of the National Gallery, but only had 2 hours to take it in - not long enough for all 4 floors. We also took in the Sex Machines Museum, which was, ah, fun. And funny. Spanish porn films from the 1920s come to mind - naked women but the fat hairy men fully clothed just with their "bits" out.
Ok, will have to wrap it up here because internet could disconnect me at any moment. Also some more stalking of the pretty Swedish people becons me. I mean, not *stalking*... The title of this blog refers to my journey from Prague to Stockholm, via Berlin - in case you´re interested.

heheh... ah yes, the sex machines museum. the hilarity of all that badly edited porn with very uninspired 'talent'... endless hours of amusement (well, twenty minutes!). glad to hear you're having fun. it is raining today, but it's been quite nice here otherwise. i like the smell of melbourne on a warm evening. specifically lygon street. mmm.
ha! you get rain, i get stockholm - who gets the better deal here, eh?! (though it was grey and kinda drizzly here today but never mind). to continue the comparison, you get lygon st (bah!), i get Herman´ - the MOST incredible vegetarian restuarant possibly on the face of the earth: has a buffe´ of all veggie stuff, salads, curries, rice, yummy yummy yum yum. and the cakes looked AMAZING - except by the time it got to cake-time i was already stuffed with my veggie feast! no pickled herring for me. no siree. but potatoes! oh wow, how i have missed potatoes! Mm-mm. ... now are you jealous? you should have come to stockholm just for Herman´ alone!
xxx
well, you get herman, and we get copious amounts of scone. also, the most amazing short-haired pure white tomcat just walked past the window. massive. and suspiciously clean. i think it may be a wizard in disguise... or mogget (did you read sabriel?)... we will put pix up soon... but i am jealous about your amazing veggie buffet - it reminds me of organic in barcelona. they joy, the food, the non-jamon edibles. have you had pickled herring? rolmop, they're called in holland. YUM. (but being a good vegetarian i haven't eaten it for years...). see you!
p.s. this is one for you, esther:

Hello Esther!
Gosh, you are busy and so-very-in-Europe-y. One day I too will see the great asymetrical haircuts of Sweden...
It is an overcast spring day in the antipodes...and I'd like to have a bit of a snooze in my study chair, as I've been stupidly busy. It's only 11:30 in the morning though. Woe is me! Bloody October. Everything happens now. Pooh pooh...
I saw the guy who'll be the new doctor (or at least I think it was the same guy) in a BBC mini series 'Casonova,' (A bawdy romp...) and he was really quite good. Very whimsical. And so he should be if he's going to be the Doctor.
Keep happy and safe and well & and don't get addicted to any other confectionaries.
Jonny S. (I killed Rachel Bowen and now wear her skin like as a coat.
PS: I got your postcard. It is very cool! Thankyou.
